WHO ARE WE

  SINETHEMBA ( 'WE HAVE HOPE' ) COMMUNITY CARE CENTER A Non-Profit Organisation allocated at Zone 6 Diepkloof Soweto, we care for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and we strive to improve the health and well-being of OVCY children as well as orphaned children. As an organisation we are concerned about the development and future of our youth. Sinethemba Community Care Center was established in 2001 and has been set up to address these issues. We as Sinethemba CCC, focus on empowering our community members through comprehensive social services, counselling, and outreach programs. The center is run by a team of denominational qualified staff of nine and local  qualified volunteers. It has, through 'once off' donations by local benefactors and local partners acquired the necessary capital, assets, and equipment needed.

  OUR MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS                          MISSION  STATEMENT Through all the work that we do, we ensure that our community learn how to live with AIDS, not die from it. The Sinethemba Community Care Center strives to eliminating new infections through HIV education, improving the health and well-being of persons living with HIV/AIDS, offer community development programs, and assisting orphans and other vulnerable children and youth (OVCY children included). VISION STATEMENT A  world in which people living with HIV/AIDS enjoy good health-related quality of life. To be a leading contributor to the promotion of healthy communities and sustainable human development.

  HIV/AIDS POLICY OF THE SINETHEMBA COMMUNITY CARE CENTER 1.        Our position Sinethemba acknowledges the seriousness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in South Africa and its significant impact on the workplace and organisation. We share the understanding that HIV/AIDS is a chronic, life-threatening disease with social, economic and human rights implications that can impact on employees and the organisation. We acknowledge that present medical opinion indicates there is no known risk of AIDS transmission through casual or close contact that occurs during normal work activities. The virus is fragile and has been found to be transmitted only through the intimate exchange of body fluid such as blood or blood contaminated tissues fluids such as semen or vaginal fluid.   Our commitment HIV testing is not a pre-requisite for employment and testing will not be conducted by Sinethemba Community Care Center.   SCHEDULE OF THE NGO’S FOUR ANNUAL EVENTS 1.      The HIV/AIDS colour run Event The HIV/AIDS colour run is an annual colourful social event targeted to raise awareness among young people in the community about HIV/AIDS testing and prevention.   In addition to entertainment, HIV awareness/prevention information materials are distributed among all participants. This type of event is beneficial in drawing attention to reducing the rate of HIV infections in the communities.     2.      Sports Day Event This event provides Sinethemba Community Care Center with the opportunity to raise awareness about the HIV inequities faced by the youth and demonstrates innovative ways to share HIV related information and services.
